Dr. Sasikumar Kuttappan received his Ph. D from NIIST (RRL), CSIR-Trivandrum, Kerala, India under the guidance of Dr. Vijay Nair and went to ICSN, CNRS France for a postdoctoral fellowship with Professor David Grierson. There he studied on the total synthesis of anticancer agent Esperamicin. Subsequently moved to Columbia University and worked with Professor Gilbert Stork on the stereoselective total synthesis of Taxol. After two years at Stork’s group, started industrial career as a Medicinal Chemist at Schering-Plough Research institute/Merck in New Jersey, USA and continued at the same place for about 12 years. Extensively published from Merck Schering-Plough and holds numerous patents.
Apart from this, he has worked with companies like, Piramal Discovery Solutions (PDS), Ahmedabad, Aragen (GVK Bio), Hyderabad and Curia Global (AMRI), Hyderabad. He has rich experience in leading large teams of Scientists and currently working as the Chief Scientific Officer of Plant Lipids and Aurea Biolabs located at Cochin, Kerala, India.
